Mak Chat - Privacy Policy

Mak Chat ("we", "our", "the App") is a private messaging application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use Mak Chat at makchat.in.

1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: Your name, phone number, and password (stored securely as a hash, never in plain text).
• Profile Information: Profile photo and status message that you choose to add.
• Messages & Media: Text messages, photos, files, voice messages, and location you send within the app, stored so they can be delivered to your contacts.
• Location: Only when you explicitly choose to share your location in a chat. We never access your location in the background.
• Usage Data: Online status, last-seen time, and message read/delivered status, used to power core chat features.
• Device Information: Basic browser/device information used to keep you securely logged in.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide core messaging features: sending and receiving messages, calls, group chats, and status updates.
• To show delivery/read receipts and online status to your contacts.
• To send you notifications about new messages, calls, and reminders you create.
• To keep your account secure (password reset via your security question).

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. Your messages and media are only accessible to the people you chat with. Voice/video calls connect directly between devices (peer-to-peer) wherever possible.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on our servers using industry-standard security practices, including password hashing and secure authentication tokens. Messages you delete are removed from your view and, after a short period, from message history for everyone in the chat.

5. Your Choices

• You can edit or delete your profile information at any time from Settings.
• You can block or report other users.
• You can delete messages you've sent (within the allowed time window).
• You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

6. Children's Privacy

Mak Chat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
